How to Flush DNS Cache

Sometimes your computer will store old network routes which have since been updated. These instructions will guide you on how to clear old paths from your computer so the latest routes can be requested.

Windows

  1. On the keyboard, hold the Windows Key and tap the letter R.
  2. In the Run window, type: cmd
  3. Press the Enter key.
  4. In the Command Prompt console type: ipconfig /flushdns
  5. Press the Enter key.
  6. If successful, the console will say ‘Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
  7. Close the Command Prompt console window.

Mac OS

  1. On the keyboard, hold the Command Key and tap the Spacebar.
  2. In the Spotlight window, type: terminal
  3. Press the Return key.
  4. In the Terminal window type: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
  5. Press the Return key.
  6. Enter the password you use to login to your computer (not your Nookal password).
  7. Press the Return key.
  8. Close the Terminal window.
